We enter the 4th Week of Advent invited to dream big and see angels bowing before us inviting us to the unexpected. For we…you…like Mary and Joseph have found favor with God! Yes, just the way you are, you are a delight! You bring a smile to God’s “face” and a twinkle to God’s “eye”. So, think on it…what is it about you that God favors…is a delight, a real gift to those who know you? What do you favor within yourself…one of the things you like best about yourself?
Take a moment, right now. Reflect on just this!
As you ponder, light a candle or be warmed by this one…
In your holy imagination,
let the angel bow before you.
Listen to the angel’s words just for you.
What is the big dream you are invited to dream...
for yourself and for others?
God knows your heart…a heart God trusts…
even with all its doubts.
For faith and doubt are not opposites.
They enrich each other!
Joseph and Mary put their energy in their faith as they smartly dealt with the doubts
they had about the culture in which they lived.
And consciously chose to live
hope, peace, joy, and love forward.
So can you…take a moment here…let it be so.
Again, what is the gift only you bring to the world?
You are honored and precious in God’s sight and God loves you! You have found favor with God! I shout it from the mountain tops! Shout it with me! Rejoice!
Given the power of who you are, might this be a prayer you offer the world this season:
I will light candles this Christmas.
Candles of joy despite all the sadness.
Candles of hope where despair keeps watch.
Candles of courage where fear is ever present.
Candles of peace for tempest-tossed days.
Candles of grace to ease heavy burdens.
Candles of love to inspire all of my living.
Candles that will burn all the year long.
